I want to view and edit the gerber file sent to me.
The sender said it is created using CR5000 PWS software from ZUKEN.
I tried to load the .dat file but error appears.
Is it possible to open the file using gerbview?
The gerber file is RS-274D (Standard) which comes with its aperture data.
Please see attachment.

Hi,

Thank you for your report.
The Gerber file is using EBCDIC coding (not ASCII) which is currently not supported.
This coding was used mainly on IBM mainframe computers many years ago.

We will add support for EBCDIC in GerbView and have registered this as issue #1139.
If the sender can generate ASCII coded files instead, they will load in the current GerbView release.

Best regards,
Support

Currently we cannot ask for ASCII equivalent due to software limitations on sender's part.
So we ask for the additional support.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

We've now released version 7.73 which add support for EBCDIC gerber files:
http://www.softwarecompanions.com/gbupdate.html

Please note that view the Gerber file you sent correctly, you will also need to change an option inside GerbView. This option can be found under Options->Gerber and is named "Quadrant Mode". You will need to change the default quadrant mode to "Single Quadrant Mode".

Best regards,
Support
