Hi All,

I'm experiencing the problem to open Excellon files generated with resolution higher than 4  decimal digits. Files generated with x.4 and lower are OK. But I can't open files generated with x.5 and higher resolution. Files with x.5 resolution becomes opened 10 times bigger than should be. Files with x.6 resolution becomes opened 100 times bigger than should be. I'm talking about distanced between a holes. The holes sizes are OK. Note that I'm setting correct resolution in the Settings\Excellon dialog.

I'm working with GerbView 8.10 however this is true for earlier versions as well (at least for 7.8).

Please help.

I'm continuing investigation. This is what I found, so far:

1) Beginning of my Excellon file generated by Altium Designer 2020 was as shown below (it has 2.5 precision):

        G92
        M48
        INCH
        FMAT,2
        T01C0.0060
        T02C0.0100
        T03C0.1161
        DETECT,ON
        %
        G90
        T01
        X0010630Y0010630
        X0020630
        X0030630
        X0050630
        X0072089Y0012459
        X0076812Y0012433

When I open it in GerbView my drill holes map appears as 10 times bigger than need to be.
If I change FMAT,2 to FMAT,1 GerbView starts open the file correctly.

Interesting that if file would be generated with 2.4 precision than GerbView opens it correctly even with FMAT,2 parameter

Any ideas?

The same effect if I simply remove FMAT,X from the Excellon header

Hi,

I'm sorry for the delayed response.
Would it be possible to send us a complete Excellon file with 2.5 precision for test?

Best regards,

Hi,

I am a newbee with the software but it appears that I have the same issue with 3.5 precision metric Excellon files. Working with version 8.20 (demo)
Have sent the Excellon file to support.

Best,
Arend
